Hot new DJ queen Maya Jane Coles releases phenomenal new track ‘O’so’ this week, through the Leftroom label managed by none other than house music maestro Matt Tolfrey.

Having moodily risen from twinkling starlet in 2008 to one of 2010/11’s hottest properties, Coles’ ‘O’so’, on Inxec & Mark Chambers’ ‘Sports EP‘, is a rhythmic floor filler, illuminated by authentic vocals and a pounding baseline that snares everyone from the wall, to the foot of the DJ booth.

Londoner Coles, regally adorning the cover of this month’s MixMag, continues to delight tech-leaning house fans with a consistent string of inventive EPs. However, it was the 2010 smash ‘What they say’ that truly announced the emergence of one of the brightest British stars of house for years. The track filled DJ bags worldwide and saw Coles sit atop the Beatport Deep House, Traxsource and Resident Advisors charts – and led to her nomination for Best Breakthrough Producer at DJ Mags Best of British Awards. Similarly, having already collaborated with the likes of Massive Attack and Gorillaz, and with a host of tracks and productions ready to drop, Maya Jane Coles is about to raise the bar she set last year.

This comedy has been in existence for over one hundred and fifty years and it is now going to be performed at the Bullingdon Club at the Oxford University. This is an incredibly prestigious place which has seen the likes of presidents, politicians and actors the world over.  Yet let us not dilly-dally, on with the explanation of the show itself!

From impromptu pillow fights to choreographed dance routines, the concept of the flash mob is nothing new – but brands are constantly developing creative new ways to generate publicity by harnessing the spontaneous, fun-loving spirit of flash mob gatherings. Eco-fashion brand Wear Chemistry recently made headlines with a flash fashion show that quite literally stopped traffic! While fashion fanatics would normally expect to see the latest Polo shirts make their debut on the catwalk or in a shop window, the newest Wear Chemistry collection made its first appearance on the streets of London in the form of a flash mob, as models staged a “fashion protest” during rush hour.

This humble country is not only pumping out the best in business, food and beautiful people, it is also releasing movies such as Daqqet ix-Xita (Plangent Rain) which will soon be on display at the Cannes Festival. Inspired in many ways by Shakespeare’s Hamlet, this novel new film which was shot entirely in black and white is setting Cannes ablaze with its depiction of Strait Street; many know it simply as a road called The Gut. The film looks at how a young man who is in his most tender years – as the story describes it; escapes from his wretched life and into happiness.

Reviewers are commenting on how the film has a particular type of sadness and how the atmosphere is most enticing for a film of this genre. Plangent Rain is in part, financed by Malta online gaming and various other offshore companies– please bear in mind that this is a short film which was published by the Malta Film Fund in order to bring exposure to the artistry of Malta. The film explores the life of this boy as he lives day to day in a rotting boat as his only means of finance. The boy must also deal with his domineering mother and spineless uncle.
