Celebrities on portable toilets, the environment and bog rolls

It was just a matter of time before celebrities’ toilets became fodder for gossip, lapped up by the star-struck public and, as you can see on YouTube and in tabloids this is already starting to happen.

Dylan provides portable toilets for his guards

Bob Dylan caused quite a stir with the portable toilets that his bodyguards use outside his luxury home. Neighbours complained about the chemical smell emanating from the portable toilet system, which stands near his house in Malibu but the mayor dismissed the complaint as unimportant. Perhaps former eco-warrior, Dylan, should think about investing in some decent, non-air polluting toilets for his employees.

Leo’s eco-potty

Leonardo Di Caprio, who has been praised for his dedication to environmentalism (he drives a biodiesel car and has installed solar panels on his roof) has spent a whopping $3 200 on an environmentally friendly toilet that cuts down on water wastage. The acclaimed actor has installed a Toto Neorest 500 toilet, which comes with a seat that automatically opens when someone approaches and automatically flushes after use. Other features of Di Caprio’s smart toilet include a seat warmer and remote control.

Crow’s war against toilet paper

Sheryl Crow kicked up her own eco-war stink. The country singer toured the continental USA in a bio-diesel bus on her ‘Stop Global Warming’ tour aimed at bringing the public’s attention to environmental issues. She was recorded urging the public to stick to one block of toilet paper per visit, ‘except for those pesky occasions when two or three are required’. Environmentalists criticised the star because of her own carbon footprint, which is far greater than the average person’s, as she uses a convoy of several vehicles and trailers on her music tours.

Roberts versus Clooney and Pitt in portable toilet humour

Julia Roberts compared her Duplicity co-star, Clive Owen’s behaviour on set to that of Oceans Twelve co-stars, Brad Pitt and George Clooney. Roberts said that working with Owen was a ‘relief’. “I didn’t have to check the toilet for anything or the light bulbs or the phone,” she said. Clooney and Pitt would apparently set up booby traps for their co-stars. One such trick reportedly involved cling wrapping a portable toilet’s seat in a trailer on the Oceans Twelve set.
