Green Film Festival goes Global

Calling all movie-makers and eco-warriors!

We all know that installing a solar geyser or water saving shower head can change the way we as individuals consume energy – but if you’re hoping to spread the green living message further, the 48 Go Green Film Festival offers you the opportunity to change the world!

This is a 48 hour film festival designed to promote environmental awareness while allowing creative filmmakers to showcase their talents on the international stage. Originally started in Greece in 2009, the festival has expanded and will be accepting short film offerings from around the globe.

This promises to be one of the biggest international film competitions of 2011 – but the good news is, you don’t have to be a big-time filmmaker to enter. All you need is a camera and a creative idea, and you can submit your eco film to the festival. Winners will get the chance to share their green message with the world with a screening at the Cannes International Film Festival in April. Cash prizes are also up for grabs, with $5 000 for first place, $2 000 for second place and $1 000 for third place.

Sustainable companies who are busy saving the planet one solar water heating system at a time will be pleased to hear that this major international film festival puts the focus firmly on environmental issues, and encourages entrants to express their enthusiasm for earth’s natural beauty.

Executive Producer Francesco Vitali, one of the driving forces behind the green film festival, says “Assemble your camera-equipped eco-warriors and prepare to make a stand against the destruction of our planet by creating the most powerful cinematic message – a 48 Go Green short film”. So what are you waiting for? Grab that camera and go green!
