There’s a great topical live news entertainment show on Channel Five called ‘Live From Studio Five’ which is hosted by the lovely Jayne Middlemiss alongside Ian Wright and Kate from the Apprentice.

It’s a fun show but I worry that the audience might think it goes on air at 5.00pm as the title might suggest when in reality it is live at 6.30pm.  I really hope people find the show as it’s such an entertaining and easy watch.  It appeals to all ages and you can imagine an entire family sitting down to enjoy the show – they have guests to suits everyone and cover light entertainment stories in addition to current affairs.

Jayne Middlemiss replaces the previous presenter who didn’t last very long!  I love Jayne and it’s great that she is back on our screens daily.  She is brilliant.

I have to let a long and drawn out scream exit my body.  And it’s all explained in two words:  Sophie Dahl.  What is it with food programming these days?  I am sure if I went to a channel head and said, “hey I have this lady who used to model and used to be large and is now a skinny vegetarian who can’t cook and by the way she has a famous author for a grandfather and she wants to present a cookery series…” I would be laughed out of the room.

So how does a vegetarian end up cooking mince on screen and is seemingly excited by that?  Not to mention the non food bits – I think we have to leave it to Merchant Ivory to do “whimsical” and leave poetry readings to late night live art shows.  It makes me wonder why, justbecause someone is famous for being famous, they think they can lend their hand to anything?  Madonna writes a children’s book?  Gwyneth Paltrow is working on a cookbook?
